5. Swelling of the arm
A lump can be felt under the arm, even though it is usually in the breast. A lump under your armpit could indicate that you are suffering from breast cancer. The armpits contain several nodes.
It is not unusual for cancer to spread to the lymphatic system. In this case, the lymph glands will become inflamed. The lump beneath the armpit does not necessarily indicate breast cancer. It can be caused by a number of things, such as irritation from shaving, an ingrown hair, a cyst or a reaction to antiperspirant. If you find a lump under your armpit it is important to have an examination.
