Breast cancer is caused by cells in the breast that mutate, and grow uncontrollably. These cells can accumulate and form a mass, which is visible on diagnostic imaging tests such as X-rays or ultrasounds. The cells in a tumor are malignant when they can invade tissues around it or spread to other parts of the human body.
The majority of breast cancers begin in the milk ducts that transport milk to nipple. The glands which produce milk and other breast areas can also be affected by cancer, but they are rarer. Breast cancer can be treated if it is detected early. This is why women should be alert to the signs.
1. Skin Dimpling
Breast cancer can manifest in many ways. While a lump or tumor is the most obvious, there are other symptoms that may indicate the disease. Breast cancer can be detected by changes in the skin’s appearance, especially dimpling. Inflammatory breast carcinoma is the most common type of Breast Cancer which causes dimpled or swollen skin.
This type of skin cancer blocks lymph vessels. The lymph vessels transport lymph, the fluid that transports excess fluid and particles from different tissues within the body to the bloodstream. The skin can look like an orange when the lymph vessels are blocked. Even if you don’t have any lumps, a dimpled breast could indicate cancer.
