Belize City is easily accessible from a dozen North American cities during the high season of November to April.
Belize’s Caribbean coast is where most visitors go. Ambergris Caye is the largest island in Belize and sits right next to Belize Barrier Reef, which is the second largest coral reef system in the world. Margaritaville Beach Resort was opened on the island last March. The “eco-luxury resort Alaia Belize will open in 2021.
The Great Blue Hole, a massive sinkhole under the sea, is a magnet for aerial photographers and scuba diving enthusiasts.
Belize is more than just its beautiful islands.
In a country with a sustainable tourism masterplan that has been evolving since 2012, lush rainforests, cave systems, winding river and rich Mayan archeological sites are all waiting to be explored. Altun Ha’s ruins are located just an hour or so north of Belize City. Lamanai, located further west in Belize, is the largest and most interesting Mayan site. MH
