In 2014, KTLA anchor Ginger Chan left her microphone on accidentally during a commercial. Sam Rubin’s colleague Ginger Chan mentioned to her that his wife made a comment about her weight in relation to the other news anchors.
Chan then went back on Rubin, calling him “fat” before realizing that she had made a mistake. Rubin attempted to lighten the situation but Chan looked visibly embarrassed. The two men remained professional despite the mistake and continued the broadcast.
