This is a mistake because Brian Williams could not have anticipated that his apology would be received as poorly as it was. The disgraced anchor apologized to the public in 2015 for misrepresenting his reporting from Iraq.
Williams then issued a bizarre apology in which he blamed his “ego”, and NBC producers likely regretted having ever hired him. The most fascinating thing about this whole mess is that no one bothered to check out Williams’ over-the-top and harrowing statements.
