Johnson has repeatedly said that it would be impossible to implement the solution Bruce Willis’ character in “Armageddon” proposed. NASA, however, is open to this possibility even though Johnson would never consider placing a nuclear payload on an asteroid. It isn’t their first option, but it would work if the other options didn’t.
