THAILAND TOUR GUIDE

How to Get Around Thailand: The Best Options

How to get to Thailand

How to get to Thailand: Suvarnabhumi International Airport, located about 19 miles outside of Bangkok, is the most important airport for flights to Thailand. Alternatives include the Phuket International Airport (20 mile from the center of Phuket) and the Chiang Mai International Airport (two miles from the center of Chiang Mai).

Skyscanner allows you to search for the best flight deals to Thailand.

Transportation:

TransportationTrains can be a quick way to travel, especially in Bangkok. Tickets range from 16-59 Baht, depending on the number of stations you pass, or 120 Baht for a day pass that includes unlimited rides. Skytrain operates from 6:30 AM until midnight, passing by many attractions and rural areas.

Buses are an excellent way to travel around the country. Pay only 7 baht per ride for short distances or 9-19 for longer rides on air-conditioned buses.

The alternative to driving is the taxi. Taxis are metered in major cities such as Bangkok. Prices start at 35 Baht and 2 Baht per kilometer.

Car rental: You must be 21 years of age and hold a U.S. driver’s license for at least a year before renting a vehicle. Prices start at 700 baht per day.
