49. Grady Threatens
Grady shook his duty pistol and said: “Oh, I’ll be there.”
“I will see you all.”
Grady said, “I’m not sure what you are up to. But if you even step over the line just once you will be arrested.” You should come to our jail if you think Merriview’s welcoming. “You’ll love it.”
50. Grady will see Roland tomorrow
Roland muttered, “All this tough-guy talk” woreily. With a loud thud, he slammed his feet down on the desk. Grady stared down at his Oxford loafers with a dull rage in his stomach. He knew that he would make a mistake if he didn’t leave.
Grady walked out of Michaels’ office and said “I’ll be back tomorrow, Roland.”
I know you’ll do it, Sheriff.
