Sleep-deprived people do not experience normal heart rate fluctuations. Their heart rate is elevated whether they are working or resting. A lack of sleep can also increase the C-reactive proteins in an individual. This protein is linked to inflammation and can indicate a greater risk of cardiovascular disease. Insulin resistance is another cardiovascular risk that can be caused by a lack sleep. This can lead to type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular damage.
