Excavating the Sand
Jitendra eventually manipulated the mother elephants feeding schedule to his advantage. The villagers took advantage of the situation and began the tedious task of removing the large amount of sand which had accumulated around the hole. This was preventing the mother from rescuing her trapped child.
They were unsure if their intervention was going to be effective despite their efforts. They waited anxiously for the mother elephant’s response, hoping that it would be positive.
